TERMS & PRIVACY
Last Updated: 7th September 2026
I have tried to keep my Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy as clear as possible to give you all the information I can about my services, ensuring that you completely understand the whole process—from initial contact through to my services and beyond. It is important to me that your experience meets your expectations, so please take a few minutes to read through this document. You will need to accept my Terms and Conditions every time you proceed with my services. As they may change from time to time, please check the date at the top of the page.
1. Service Scope & Cancellations
Work Execution: Once you are happy for me to proceed, I will carry out any work as requested. You will be advised on how long the work is expected to take, and if any issues arise, you will be contacted immediately.
Invoicing: Upon completion, you will be provided with an invoice containing a full breakdown of all work completed. Please retain this for your records.
Service Cancellation: If I must cancel all or part of this work for any reason, I will notify you as soon as possible.
Uncompleted Work: In the event that I am unable to complete the work, you will not be charged for anything other than the work conducted up to that point. Once work begins, a charge applies for work conducted from that moment onward, unless only a free basic diagnosis was requested.
2. Prices & Payment
Currency: All prices are strictly in UK pounds (£).
Total Cost Structure: The final total includes replacement parts and delivery charges (if applicable), plus any additional chosen services (e.g., delivery, installation, or call-out charges).
Payment Due Date: Payment is expected upon completion of all or part of any work done. A deposit may be required for larger or high-value items.
Business Invoicing: Businesses may be invoiced in advance if required. Full payment is expected within 7 days of work completion, payable via cash or BACS bank transfer.
3. Call-Outs, Delivery, Inspections, Lien & Uncollected Equipment
On-Site & Off-Site Work: You will be notified when I visit your specified address and informed of the work that will be performed. If equipment is taken off-site, you will be notified of expected timeframes and return schedules.
Receipts & Equipment Condition: Receipts are provided upon request when equipment is taken off-site. Equipment undergoes a visual inspection upon receipt. Pre-existing cosmetic damage, missing components, or wear and tear noted prior to repair fall outside my liability. You will be notified of any additional necessary work upon the return of your equipment.
Right of Particular Lien: In accordance with common law and standard industry practice, Kane Computer Services retains a specific legal lien over all equipment, hardware, components, and media supplied to us until all outstanding fees for diagnostics, labour, replacement parts, storage, or call-outs are paid in full. We reserve the right to retain possession of your property until full payment has been received and cleared.
Uncollected & Abandoned Goods: If equipment remains unpaid for or uncollected 60 days after notification of completion (or following repeated reasonable attempts to contact you), notice will be served under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. If the outstanding balance is not settled within the notice period, we reserve the right to sell, recycle, or securely dispose of the item to recover unpaid repair, diagnostic, and accrued storage costs.
4. Orders & Replacement Parts
Parts Processing: Replacement parts are ordered to arrive quickly and in pristine condition.
Faulty Deliveries: In the unlikely event that products arrive faulty, replacement work will be scheduled as quickly as possible.
Supplier Delays: You will be kept informed whenever supplier delays affect repair timelines.
5. Hardware Component Risks & Software Licensing
Pre-Existing Hardware & Component Failures: While every reasonable care is taken when opening, diagnosing, and servicing equipment, aging components (e.g., degraded power supplies, brittle plastic chassis clips, corroded solder joints, or failing motherboards) may suffer terminal failure during standard diagnostics or repair. I cannot be held liable for pre-existing physical defects or sudden component failure caused by age, heat wear, or prior improper repairs.
Software Licensing Compliance: Customers are strictly responsible for providing valid, genuine software licenses or product keys for any operating systems or proprietary software requested for installation. I will not install pirated, unlicensed, or cracked software under any circumstances.
6. Passwords & System Access
Required Access Credentials: Diagnostics, operating system installations, or repair work may temporarily require access credentials (e.g., device PIN, user account password, or Wi-Fi key).
Temporary Use Only: Passwords provided are strictly used to perform requested repairs or testing and are never shared or written down permanently.
Deletion Upon Completion: All system passwords, temporary admin credentials, and access details are completely deleted or removed from my records immediately upon completion of the work and return of equipment.
Security Recommendation: For peace of mind, you are advised to change your device login password or account credentials once your system is returned.
7. Data Storage, Media & Data Recovery
Data Recovery Liability: I cannot be held liable for any data loss during the backup, transfer, or recovery process. Every effort is made to retrieve information from failing storage devices, but irretrievable data loss cannot be covered.
Legacy Media & Transfer Liability (Tapes, Vinyl, Prints & Film): Legacy physical media—including video/audio cassettes, vinyl records, photo prints, slides, and film—naturally deteriorate and degrade over time. I cannot be held liable for existing physical defects, scratches, fading, or media failure/damage that occurs during the digitization or transfer process due to the age, fragility, or original quality of the media.
Quality Optimization: I will do my utmost to extract the highest possible audio and visual quality from supplied physical media, but original quality limitations cannot be bypassed or guaranteed.
8. Returns and Aftersales Policy
28-Day Repair Guarantee: All repair work is covered by a 28-day policy once returned to you.
Exclusions: This guarantee excludes data recovery and the re-infection of viruses, spyware, malware, or similar software threats after return. Recovered data files are not covered under this guarantee.
Statutory Rights: THIS RETURNS POLICY DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE FROM TRADING STANDARDS OR CONSUMER DIRECT (PURSUANT TO THE CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT 2015).
9. Adults & Minors Service Provision Terms
Adult Customers: Adults (individuals aged 18 and over) entering into an agreement with Kane Computer Services act as the primary account holder and assume full financial responsibility for all services, repairs, and orders requested.
Parental Consent for Minors: We accept equipment for diagnostics, repair, or media transfer belonging to or brought in by minors (anyone under the age of 18) only with the explicit authorization and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Financial & Legal Responsibility: The parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of the minor and assumes full financial responsibility for any associated repair, diagnostic, or service charges incurred.

Force Majeure: Kane Computer Services is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay arises from causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, power grid failures, internet outages, or major supply chain disruptions.
